What a pleasure it was to see so many kings, queens, princes, princesses and knights enjoying their royal tea party this afternoon. After making their own jam sandwiches, the children enjoyed music, cakes and fun. This followed on from a day of learning about the Royal family and Queen Elizabeth II and making crowns.
Year 6 had a fantastic day deepening their understanding of life in WWII, thanks to 'Portals to the Past'.
We tried on different British uniforms, held an Enfield rifle and even had a go at cracking some WWII codes sent from Germany! The children absolutely loved every minute.
What a great day we had on Friday 15th November. The children enjoyed snuggling up in their PJs and raising over £400 for Children in Need in the process. It is fantastic to be able to raise so much money for a worthwhile charity. Thanks for all of your support.
A huge well done to all the children who submitted their writing to the BBC 500 Word competition this year! Your pieces were amazing and we are so proud of you!
Y5 and their parents enjoyed an evening of hot chocolate and stargazing last week. Despite the clouds and drizzly rain, the children enjoyed sharing their work and using a stargazing app to consolidate their learning about space.
Across the school, we welcomed our parents in to share a story with their children. It was wonderful to see so many parents coming into our classrooms, sharing the love of reading.
Pupils from Year 6 had a fantastic time during their yearly trip to Windmill Hill. Throughout the week, we tackled abseiling, zip-lines, archery and the trapeze. All children had a super time and we are looking forward to next year already!
Y3 had a wonderful day at Highdown Gardens yesterday. They managed to dodge the rain showers and spend time developing their awe and wonder at the nature around them. Thank you to 'Southdowns for All' for supporting with finance of the coach.
Year 5 travelled through the galaxy when the Planetarium visited this month. They enjoyed learning about the stars, planets and moons. They were able to spot constellations linked to their work on the Ancient Greeks.
Year 2 had amazing fun re-enacting the events of the Great Fire of London last week. The theatre company were so impressed with their knowledge and the children enjoyed taking on roles with the actors.
Year 3 had a wonderful visit to Highdown Gradens, a hidden gem in Sussex. They learned about chalk based land and the unique plants that grow there, drew some plants and walked to the top of Highdown Hill. From the top we could see the sea and the Isle of Wight to our right, then the white cliffs of Birling Gap to our left. Upon the hill were significant areas of the past with fascinating stories of the past including John Oliver, a miller but also a smuggler!
