Reception Christmas Nativity 2024!
What's happening at Northgate?
Wow! What a fantastic Book Fair we have held here at Northgate! Over the course of the week, we sold over £1500 worth of books: a huge achievement. This shows just how much we love to read here at Northgate Primary. All of your purchases have enabled us to earn £963 worth of free books for our school libraries. Thank you so much!
We ran a school-wide competition, encouraging children to read in unusual places. The winners, chosen by our team of school Reading Champions, then won a £5 voucher to spend at our Scholastic Book Fair.
Thank you to all the entrants; choosing the winners proved to be incredibly difficult!
Take a look at our creative readers!
The Wellbeing Ambassadors have been working with Mrs Knox to create a new display that celebrates how unique and special we all are. They are a fantastic addition to our Pupil Leadership team.
What a pleasure it was to see so many kings, queens, princes, princesses and knights enjoying their royal tea party this afternoon. After making their own jam sandwiches, the children enjoyed music, cakes and fun. This followed on from a day of learning about the Royal family and Queen Elizabeth II and making crowns.
Year 6 had a fantastic day deepening their understanding of life in WWII, thanks to 'Portals to the Past'.
We tried on different British uniforms, held an Enfield rifle and even had a go at cracking some WWII codes sent from Germany! The children absolutely loved every minute.
What a great day we had on Friday 15th November. The children enjoyed snuggling up in their PJs and raising over £400 for Children in Need in the process. It is fantastic to be able to raise so much money for a worthwhile charity. Thanks for all of your support.
A huge well done to all the children who submitted their writing to the BBC 500 Word competition this year! Your pieces were amazing and we are so proud of you!
Y5 and their parents enjoyed an evening of hot chocolate and stargazing last week. Despite the clouds and drizzly rain, the children enjoyed sharing their work and using a stargazing app to consolidate their learning about space.
Across the school, we welcomed our parents in to share a story with their children. It was wonderful to see so many parents coming into our classrooms, sharing the love of reading.
Pupils from Year 6 had a fantastic time during their yearly trip to Windmill Hill. Throughout the week, we tackled abseiling, zip-lines, archery and the trapeze. All children had a super time and we are looking forward to next year already!
