The summer term is always busy in Year 2 as the children enjoy their learning, their sports day practice and some fun trips and visitors. During this term, the children develop their historical skills to help them to learn more about the Great Fire of London. This is supported by their texts in English, which help them to explore the impact of the fire on everyday people. During the term, the children take part in a drama workshop and are visited by the local fire crew.
Using lots of resources to make it practical, we enjoy learning about fractions in maths and continue to develop our number fluency of our 2, 5 and 10 times tables. In science, we learn about healthy living and the importance of food and exercise to help us to grow. We explore how animals (including humans) have offspring and how these then change and grow into adult animals.
During the summer term we also get the opportunity to spend time in Forest school - we love these sessions!
