During the Spring term, our learning is based closer to home and we focus upon the local community of Crawley. Using a range of maps, we identify where Crawley is in the UK and in comparison to some of the countries our families live in across the world. We then zoom into our locality and discover more about the history of our town and how it has grown over the years. We enjoy visiting St Johns, the oldest church in Crawley and developing our understanding about the importance of faith in a community.
Using the Crawley council logo as a stimulus, we create beautiful 3D collages, incorporating our new skill of quilling. In DT, we have a visit from a local baker who teaches us how to make our own bread.
Our English writing is based on the story 'Invisible' which has a theme linked to being a part of a community. We also use the beautiful non-fiction text, 'A World of Cities' to inspire our own non-chronological reports about Crawley. In maths, we continue to develop our times table fluency and apply this to written methods of multiplication and division.
