By the end of the Summer Term, the Year 3 children are always astounded by how much learning and how much progress they've made during the year. With a historical focus of the Ancient Egyptians, the children build on their Y2 knowledge of Africa and delve more deeply into the climate and culture of this country. Using the core texts of 'The Story of Tutankhamun' and 'Marcy and the Riddle of the Sphinx' to inspire them, the children learn about the Egyptian gods, traditions and the astonishing achievements of this ancient civilisation.
In maths, children use their times table fluency and a range of manipulatives to support them with their fraction learning before moving onto learning about 2D and 3D shapes. The study of forces in science supports pupils to create their own Egyptian shaduf in DT (applying their knowledge of levers) and this is then enhanced through the use of Archisketch in computing.
