Mrs K BaconNorthgate School Nursery acts as the first foundation for many of the pupils of Northgate. Our nursery is a school-maintained nursery and the staff in the Nursery and Reception work closely together to develop a stimulating learning environment for all the pupils.
Regularly attending their Nursery sessions is fundamental to support your child to form good relationships with the adults and other children in the class. Learning is developed around the interests of the pupils, core texts and current events and special dates. Pupils learn through play, with focus on their communication and language development, their gross and fine motor skills and their personal, social and emotional development. During the day, pupils have the opportunity to have snack time with their peers, where toast, fruit, vegetables and milk can be shared around a table.
Children can join our nursery from the term after their third birthday, if there is a space available. Our Nursery has capacity for 40 children per session:

Our school has a policy regarding sickness and diarrhoea which states that children should not return until 48 hours after the last bout.
Should your child become ill whilst with us, we will telephone you to come and collect him/her. Please ensure that we have at least 2 emergency contact numbers in case we are unable to reach you at home.
Uniform
We offer Northgate Nursery t-shirts and sweatshirts in 'Plum Purple'. These will be available to buy via our school uniform suppliers, Mapac.

Northgate Nursery believe in the core principles of Early Years Education
A Unique Child - Every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable and self-assured
Positive relationships - Children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and/or a key person.
Enabling environments - The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning.
Learning and development - Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and all areas of Learning and Development are equally important and inter-connected.
We believe that all children will grow together as independent learners, exploring through play and first-hand experiences in a safe, happy and stimulating environment as they begin their learning journey at Northgate Primary School.
We understand that education begins in the home and we realise this may well be the first time that you have shared this responsibility with anyone else. Should you have any worries or questions about your child at any time, please do not hesitate to come and discuss them with us. We see you as a partner in educating your child – you are the one who knows your child better that anyone and we welcome any advice you can offer.
The Early Years Foundation Stage
