Welcome to Reception 2023

School Information

Northgate Primary School is a three form entry school with 90 pupils per year.

The original school buildings opened in 1953 as Northgate First and Middle Schools and, to passers-by, they still look very much as they did then, but inside there have been many changes. As well as 22 classrooms and many group rooms, we have a fully equipped computer suite, cookery room, two libraries, two halls and extensive outside areas.

The school has a fully equipped Nursery Class and a Special Support Centre for children with hearing impairment.

The outside environment is split into three hard play areas; one for the children in Nursery and Reception classes, one infant playground for pupils aged 5 to 7 years and one junior playground for 7 to 11 year olds. The school field is extensive with many trees, pergolas, an adventure play area, stage, traversing wall, ponds, allotments and a wildlife and environmental area.

More Information on admissions and education:

To apply for a starting school place, please click here.

Please note: For ALL reception places, admissions will require a copy of your child's passport, birth certificate AND an in date council tax statement. Forms will not be accepted without all three documents.

We reserve the right to request further supporting documentation where necessary to confirm residence at the application address- places secured using false information will be withdrawn.

Your place may be offered to another child if the school does not receive ALL completed forms and requested documentation.

The deadline to apply for a school place for reception starting in September 2024 is 15th January 2024.

What if I miss the deadline?

Late applications received after the deadline may not be considered until after all other applications received on time.

This could result in your child not securing a place at your preferred school.

When will I find out if my child has a place?

Parents will find out which primary school has offered their child a place for September 2024 on Tuesday 16 April.

The decision will be sent by the local council by either letter or email.

Some councils allow parents to view their results through the admissions portal or system.

Exactly what time the offers will be released varies from area to area.

During the visits, the children will be able to meet their teacher and take part in general activities. Parents have the opportunity to meet with the Head Teacher and obtain general information about the school.
