RE at Northgate

RE at Northgate enables pupils to build their sense of identity and belonging, helping them to flourish within their communities and as citizens of our diverse society. It teaches pupils respect for others, including those of different faiths and beliefs and helps to challenge prejudice.  

Within our teaching at Northgate, we seek to encourage collaboration of ideas and the sharing of our own personal experiences, looking at the similarities and differences between religions and worldviews. We seek to use first-hand experiences to enhance our learning and believe that RE gives us the unique opportunity to explore a different dimension of the world around us. 

Each year group will spend time focusing on an aspect of the Christian faith, in addition to another world religion. We particularly encourage exploring the many faiths that are represented within our school community, such as Hinduism, Islam and Sikhism. We enrich our understanding by welcoming experts into our school, visits to local places of worship and exploring art and artefacts.
