This is a term of wonderful discovery learning time especially in both Science and English. We learnt all about animals (including humans) and really enjoy meeting hedgehogs, reptiles and ducklings. In English we think about what we can do to save our world and read an amazing story about a little girl who makes a really difference to where she lives. Funni in our story loves to fly a kite and in Design and Technology we create our own kites.  Forest School plays a big part of our Fridays and the children enjoy cooking on the open fire, using knifes and saws, making dens, climbing trees and generally getting very muddy! In Maths we return to place value with numbers up to 50 as well as using water to compare different volumes and balance scales to compare mass. For Art, after discovering different patterns and textures, we use this knowledge to make colourful prints. We have a termly Geography focus and create maps with keys of the Year One garden; learn about the different countries that make up the United Kingdom and undertake a field trip study of the local Northgate area.
